Mia’s Kitchen had been in business for roughly 4 years when owners Michael and Cynthia decided it was time to bring a new employee on board. Over the years they had seen an increasing need for good quality baked goods and, although Chef Michael had increased his bakery menu, he was having trouble keeping up with the demand while also running an already busy kitchen. As with much of the evolution of Mia’s, things just happened naturally. Just as they were toying with the idea of expanding their bakery and bringing on someone new, a customer mentioned his friend’s daughter was looking to relocate from her job decorating cakes at Wegmann’s in Montvale. Enter Amanda Alvarez, graduate of the Culinary Institute in Dutchess County!
“We are very grateful and proud to have Amanda with us here at Mia’s. We have a lot of customers who are in need of vegan, gluten free, or just classic, yummy, homemade desserts, and Amanda provides our customers with a variety of all of the above!! Over the course of the past year working with us, she has combined her baking expertise with a whole lot of creativity and research, and thus has greatly exceeded our expectations. What’s more, her personality is perfect for Mia’s as she is always upbeat and smiling. She has become a very important part of the Mia’s family and we are thrilled to have her on board!”
